Isn’t it time, that the “I” became “We” to save the “She” that we call “Home”?
Let us be good stewards of the Earth we inherited. All of us have to share the Earth’s fragile ecosystems and precious resources, and each of us has a role to play in preserving them. If we are to go on living together on this earth, we must all be responsible for it.
Everything you can imagine is real.
If You Could Change The World, what would you change?
Michel de Nostredame (December 14, 1503 – July 2, 1566), usually Latinized to Nostradamus, was a French apothecary and reputed seer who published collections of prophecies that have since become famous world-wide. He is best known for his book Les Propheties, the first edition of which appeared in 1555.
Since the publication of this book, which has rarely been out of print since his death, Nostradamus has attracted an almost cult following. His many enthusiasts, as well as the popular press, credit him with predicting numerous major world events.
In contrast, most of the academic sources listed below maintain that the associations made between world events and Nostradamus’ quatrains are largely the result of misinterpretations or mistranslations (sometimes deliberate) or else are so tenuous as to render them useless as evidence of any genuine predictive power. Moreover, none of the sources listed offers any evidence that anyone has ever interpreted any of Nostradamus‘ quatrains specifically enough to allow a clear identification of any event in advance
Nevertheless, interest in the work of this prominent figure of the French Renaissance is still considerable, especially in the media and in popular culture, and the prophecies have in some cases been assimilated to the results of applying the alleged Bible Code, as well as to other purported prophetic works.
Korn formed after the group L.A.P.D. folded, and after their original singer, Rich Morrill, left the band to take care of his drug addictions. Musicians Arvizu, Welch, Shaffer, and Silveria wanted to continue, and began the search for a new lead singer. One night in 1993, Welch and Shaffer were in a nightclub together, and were intending to stay for only a few minutes. That all changed once a band called Sexart took to the stage. They were intrigued by the singer, Jonathan Davis, who hooked up with them after the gig was finished. At first, Davis did not want the position of lead singer, but after consulting a psychic who told him he would be stupid not to do it, he signed on. The group found they were quite cohesive early on and so, formed a brand-new band by the name of Korn in 1993. Welch took the pseudonym “Head”, Arvizu became “Fieldy”, and Shaffer took the name “Munky”.
In 1993, Korn began a working process with friend and producer Ross Robinson. Korn began work on and released its first demo in 1993, Neidermeyer’s Mind. It contained 4 songs: “Predictable”, “Blind”, “Daddy”, and “Alive”. “Blind” was originally written by Davis and Sexart, but was revised with new lyrics by Korn. The style changed as well: the original version was heavy metal-oriented; Korn’s version is still heavy metal, in fact heavier, but also adds hip-hop influences.
Korn had problems getting signed during its first year, mainly because of their unique style. The band did not fit with the rock scene of the 1990s, which was primarily Seattle grunge rock. Horrified record executives and producers turned the other way at the sound of Davis’ painful lyrics and the vicious musicality. But one night in 1994, Paul Pontius from Immortal/Epic Records heard the band in a nightclub. He was so impressed with the band that, he signed them on the spot. With two producers, Robinson and Pontius, and a label, Korn produced their self-titled debut album in 1994, Korn.
Edwin McCain (born January 20, 1970 in Greenville, South Carolina) is a singer-songwriter. While his albums are released under his name, he does have a permanent band, referred to as the Edwin McCain Band. Members of the band include Larry Chaney, lead guitar; Pete Riley, rhythm guitar and background vocals; Craig Shields, saxophone and keyboards; Manny Yanes, bass guitar; and Peter Alexander, drums.
Long time touring friends with Hootie and the Blowfish, the Edwin McCain band signed with same label, Atlantic Records. In 1994, he recorded his first major-label album, Honor Among Thieves under the Lava Records imprint (Matchbox Twenty, Kid Rock and Jewel). The record was then released in 1995. His second album, Misguided Roses, spawned I’ll Be, a major hit single in 1998. This song is also featured on the charitable album, Live in the X Lounge, along with a live version of “Solitude”. It was also featured and included in the soundtrack of the 2004 teen flick, A Cinderella Story. Two more albums (Messenger and Far from Over) followed, but at the end of 2001, he split from Lava. In 2003 he released a collection of acoustic versions of songs both old and new called The Austin Sessions via ATC Records, a Nashville-based independent record label (at which McCain was the first artist signed following its creation in 2001). Mid-2004 saw the arrival of his first studio album in three years, entitled Scream & Whisper, which was released on another indie label, DRT Entertainment.
Incubus is a five-piece American alternative rock band based out of Calabasas, California. Among the band’s most successful singles are “Drive”, “Wish You Were Here”, “Anna Molly”,”Dig” and “Pardon Me”. The band has reached multi-platinum sales with albums such as Make Yourself, Morning View, and A Crow Left of the Murder. Incubus released their latest studio album, Light Grenades, in November 2006.
Vocalist Brandon Boyd, drummer Jose Pasillas, and guitarist Mike Einziger met in high school. At the age of fifteen, they formed the band with bassist Alex Katunich also known by the stage name “Dirk Lance”. Before they were known as Incubus, they were joey badafooko. Incubus immediately began naked music and started to play nakie and more frequently, graduating from parties to small clubs. The group recorded a three song demo tape titled “Closet Cultivation,” which including the songs “Pillow your eyes,” “Bathe in my Snot,” and an early version of the song “Speak Free.” In 1993, Incubus was introduced to Jim Wirt, a local record producer through Joanne Stanulonis, a music and mathematics teacher who was working with Steve Vai’s band Bad4Good. Wirt offered two record demos for the band during unbooked studio time and the band recorded their first album, (a compilation of the demos they had recorded between 1992-1994) entitled Fungus Amongus. However, due to lack of label interest, Incubus released their first full length album on their own label, with Einziger paying for the first pressing of 1,000 disks out of his own pocket.
Throughout 1994 Joanne Stanulonis booked Incubus’ shows at the Roxy, The Whiskey and the Troubadour. Her contacts, allowing Incubus to play there, were critical, as the band members were all minors, prohibited to play where alcoholic beverages are sold.
In 1995, Gavin Koppell saw the band play and asked if they would be interested in using some of his tracks, which incorporated the use of turntables. Gavin joined full-time after his first rehearsal. Shortly thereafter, Incubus’ unusual amalgamation of styles and high-energy shows, combined with its growing fan base, attracted labels and put the band in the enviable position of a bidding war. Incubus finally landed a record deal with Immortal/Epic Records. Touring throughout 1996, Incubus established themselves as a top draw live act, gaining a dedicated following all over the United States. To start off the new year, Immortal Records released Incubus’ EP entitled Enjoy Incubus on January 7, 1997. The EP featured re-recordings of four tracks from Fungus Amongus, plus two recently written tracks. These were the first recordings to include the newly acquired Gavin Koppell a.k.a. ‘DJ Lyfe’. After the release of Enjoy Incubus, the band completed several mini-tours in its support. Their first major tour was with Korn in Europe.
People has been endowed with reason, with the power to create, so that he can add to what he’s been given. But up to now he hasn’t been a creator, only a destroyer. Forests keep disappearing, rivers dry up, wild life’s become extinct, the climate’s ruined and the land grows poorer and uglier every day. There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story. To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom.
